Ripe produce is at the peak of its flavor and nutritional value. Less fossil fuel is needed to bring local fruits and vegetables to your table. Small scale farmers use less pesticides than commercial growers. Foods in season are abundant and more economical to purchase. Its charms are multitude a wholly unique love story, a devastating friendship, a bewitching multi-generational history, all brought to an apex in the larger-than-life personage of Truly, a heroine simultaneously infused with a quiet and dignified grace and peculiar sense of purpose. This dark-yet-rollicking debut is a must-read." --Sara Gruen, author of Water for Elephants

The Piano Teacher

by Janice Y. K. Lee "This cinematic tale of two love affairs in mid-century Hong Kong shows colonial pretensions tainted by wartime truths. Will Truesdale, a rootless, handsome Briton, arrives in the colony in 1941, and is swept up by Trudy Liang, the blithe and glamorous daughter of a Shanghai millionaire and a Portuguese beauty. They quickly become inseparable, their days spent in a whirl of parties and champagne, but when the Japanese invade, Will is interned and Trudy resorts to increasingly Faustian methods to survive."

Other new titles: The Ideal Wife & First Comes Marriage, both by Mary Balogh; The Last Hellion by Loretta Chase; Charlemagne Pursuit by Stephen Berry; Run by James Patterson. Jarvis spends the next six years in limbo, married to a man who is no longer the man she married but is still faithfully devoted to him. One day, when her washing machine breaks down, she is forced to use the local laundromat. For the first time since her husband's accident, Jarvis gets a taste for the real world, where the possibility for new relationships and new experiences makes her feel alive again. It is only when she discovers some of her husband's secrets -- in the form of three mysterious collections of photographs -- that Jarvis feels it is time for her to let go of the past and embrace the future...

The Shooters by W.E.B. After all, there must be a logical explanation for why the long-buried volume has her name in it—written in what looks suspiciously like blood. But all logic goes out the window when the book disappears—and Horace turns up dead.

The Almost Moon, is the third book and second novel by American writer Alice Sebold, (author of The Lovely Bones). Synopsis: For years, Helen Knightly has given her life to others: to her haunted mother, to her enigmatic father, to her husband and now-grown daughters. When she murders her mother, her life comes rushing in at her in a way she never could have imagined.

Last Call by James Grippando
It's not just the brisk action and solid plotting that make James Grippando's thrillers so enticing. It's the Miami author's ability to hone in on realistic characters caught up in situations over which they have no control. It's the tactic that the best thriller maestros, from Hitchcock to Harlan Coben, utilize to the maximum.

New in Non-Fiction:
Boom! Voices of the Sixties by Tom Brokaw; In The Greatest Generation, his landmark bestseller, Tom Brokaw eloquently evoked for America what it meant to come of age during the Great Depression and the Second World War. Now, in Boom!, one of America’s premier journalists gives us an epic portrait of another defining era in America as he brings to life the tumultuous Sixties, a fault line in American history.

Just in Time by Rachael Ray; Rachael Ray has built her Food Network career on 30-Minute Meals. Her latest book, Just in Time is something like a ‘Cooking for Dummies’ book. There is a little bit of practically every ethnic cuisine, in recipes that are easy to follow, and fairly fool-proof. You don't need much of a culinary background to succeed!

NEW ON DVD:

“3:10 to Yuma” starring Russell Crowe (Gladiator; LA Confidential, The Sum of us) and Christian Bale (Empire of the Sun; Batman Begins) A small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. But more challenges arise for our young hero. Peter's old friend Harry Obsourne (James Fanko) has set out for revenge against Peter; taking up the mantle of his late father's persona as The New Goblin, and Peter must also capture Uncle Ben's real killer, Flint Marko (Thomas Hayden Church) who has been transformed into his toughest foe yet, the Sandman. All hope seems lost when suddenly Peter's suit turns jet-black and greatly amplifies his powers.
