Thanks to a Mini-Grant from the Human Services Coordinating Council, we were able to buy eight new chairs for our Story Time toddlers, so that every one of them would have a place at the craft table. This Thursday, May 30th at 10:30 a.m., they will be entertained with a Kids' Songs Concert by Gary "Music Man" Van Slyke thanks to a grant from Stewarts. Gary plays the guitar, banjo, harmonica, mandolin, penny whistle, ukelele, and he brings percussion instruments for the kids to join in. All toddlers and their caregivers are welcome. We are grateful to the funding sources that make these things possible.

Come to Garden Party and stop at the library for what you need to make your garden grow this year. From 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 and from 12 noon on Sunday, May 26, the Sharon Springs Free Library will host a sale of all things related to gardening; gardening books, tools, supplies, vases, seeds, cuttings, perennials and anything else related to gardening. Also on Saturday, May 25 starting at 10:00 a.m., Agnes Rodd, Director of the Montgomery County Agricultural Society and NGC-Accredited flower show judge, will be available to answer questions about gardening without chemicals. Agnes is anxious to talk about how to rid your garden of insects, how to grow herbs successfully, and why you don’t need milkweed to attract butterflies. At 11:00 a.m. we will have a live music hour in the library featuring Cosby Gibson’s new program of historic songs of lumberjacks in the 1800’s logging camps of the Adirondack Mountains.
If you would like to donate any of gardening items or supplies to our sale, please bring them to the library during our operating hours during May. If you have plants to share, please bring them the week of May 20th. We have lots of free pots, if you need them for your transplants. Just call (518)234- 3126 and let us know how many you need.
