March is Women’s History Month. Some date this declaration back to 1911 at the first International Woman’s Day, March 8. In 1978, a California school district celebrated Women’s History Week, and in 1980, President Carter issued the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8 as National Women’s History Week. The National Women’s History Project petitioned Congress to expand the event to the entire month, and in 1987, Congress declared the month in perpetuity. Every day this March, the “Today in History” column in “U.S.A. Today” will feature important dates related to women’s rights, achievements and equality.  We have books and movies that feature various aspects of women’s history.

SPECIAL SATURDAY STORY TIME VISITORS! Live, warm and fuzzy four-legged little BABY GOATS will be joining us for our story time activity on Saturday, March 3rd at 9:30 a.m. Kids of all ages are welcome to come hear the story of "Gregory, the Terrible Eater," by Mitchell Sharmat and to meet pet and cuddle our special guests. If you don't know the story of Gregory, here is a hint. Gregory is a goat!
