Serious readers are invited to a four-part reading and
discussion course on the writing of Audre Lorde, thanks to a grant from
Humanities New York. The discussions will be held on four Wednesday nights
(September 4 and 18, October 2 and 16) led by Dr. Emily Daniels. Lorde was an
essayist and poet whose works speak to questions of race, class, gender, and
sexuality. Four texts will be provided for use to the first fifteen
participants; “Warrior Poet” a biography of Lorde, “Sister Outsider, a
collection of Lorde’s essays, Lorde’s “Cancer Journals,” and finally, “The
Collected Poems of Audre Lorde.” Additional details are available at the
library. There will be no charge the sessions, but signing up will help us know
how many to expect.
